Common and widespread resident. Length 50-70 cm, wingspan 120-155 cm. Coastal areas, harbours, fields. Omnivorous and opportunistic feeder. Often seeks food in fields and at garbage dumps. Robs prey from other see birds. Nests in colonies on islets and offshore rocks. Powerful flight with long gliding spells.
