Uncommon, sparsely distributed in western and northern areas. Wingspan 55-60 mm. Sexes similar. Flies March to October in two or three generations. Shrubland near woods, light forests, olive groves. Takes aphid honeydew and tree sap. Strong flier but mostly inactive. Rests on tree bark, in bushes always with closed wings.
