Sparsely distributed mostly in northern areas, small numbers, often singles. Wingspan 20-30 mm. Sexes similar. Flies March to November in two or three generations. Diverse open habitats with grass and flowers, including parks and gardens. Usually settles with open wings. Flies low above ground. Territorial tendency in males. Sedentary behaviour.
