Native of southern Africa accidentally introduced in Europe in late 20th century. Well established on Rhodes. Widespread and common in gardens with Geranium plants. Wingspan 15-25 mm. Sexes similar. Unique mottled pattern on underside of wings. Apparently flies all year in several generations. Usually keeps wings closed when settled. Sedentary behaviour with long spells of inactivity.
