Female laying eggs.
Sparsely distributed in small numbers. Wingspan 30-35 mm. Upper side of wings light blue with dark borders in males, overall dark brown with various amounts of blue dusting in females. Characteristic metallic turquoise sheen at base of underside hind wings in both sexes. Flies March to July in one generation. Diverse open habitats with flowers, including parks and gardens. Takes salts from damp earth. Roaming behaviour. Often rests head-down on tall grass in late afternoon.
